Gnomon Online

Gnomon Online is the web-based division of Gnomon School of Visual Effects. Online offers training in high-end computer graphics for the entertainment industries. Online training is based on the time-tested, industry-derived curriculum taught at Gnomon School. All courses offer the level of instruction, content and feedback available at the School.

  • Gnomon's vision has always been to provide the highest caliber training that both educates and inspires, in order to help artists achieve their personal goals. Gnomon helps artists learn from the experience of others in order to save time and improve skills. Techniques that have taken our instructors years to master are available to artists in a format that is unparalleled in art education history. Our customers range from high-school students who are just discovering the career opportunities that lie ahead of them, to seasoned professionals with decades of experience.

  • Gnomon School of Visual Effects was founded in 1997 to provide industry professionals the training needed to succeed in an ever-changing digital world. At its inception, Gnomon had only one computer lab and 50 students. Since then, Gnomon has grown into an accredited institution with five labs and over 200 students. The school now caters to professionals, students, and production studios seeking training in high-end computer graphics. Gnomon offers a certificate program, an intensive Maya Fast Track program, and individual classes for extension students.

    Gnomon Online was conceived in response to the increasing extension student population. It is designed to provide the same innovative training and experienced instructors as Gnomon School with the added convenience of learning from home.

  • Classes

  • Classes are offered on a quarterly basis; four terms per year. Each week of the term the appropriate three-hour lecture is made accessible. Lectures are streaming-video and may be viewed at your convenience, 24/7. industry professionals critique your uploaded homework.

  • Instructors are experienced production professionals who teach in their area of expertise. Course content consists of tools and techniques as they are used in entertainment production.
